Seeing the growing popularity of South Cinema, (which was once called a regional cinema), even in the North belt, Bollywood’s big production houses are opting for the Hindi remake of superhit South Indian films instead of going with an original script.
Now, another Hindi remake titled Gumraah, which is under development is all set to be delivered soon. It is the adaptation of Maghizh Thirumeni’s 2019 directorial hit film Thandam which starred Arun Vijay and Vidya Pradeep in lead roles with Tanya Hope and Smruthi Venkat in supporting roles. It was released theatrically on March 1, 2019, and opened to highly positive reviews.
It was commercially successful and became one of the highest-grossing films of the year in Tamil Nadu. The film has also been remade in Telugu as Red with Ram Pothineni in the lead role.
Gumraah is bankrolled by Bollywood’s one of the popular filmmakers Bhushan Kumar under the banner of his own production company T-Series in association with Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios.
